Shoujocon

Shoujocon
was certainly a different experience compared to Anime Boston. On
Thursday I drove to Amherst to meet up with Katie; she was going
to be my roomate. We spent the night before goofing around and putting
the last touches on our new costumes. In a matter of a few hours
she had put together a Gunner Yuna costume - she was going to join
the masses of other cosplayers who have made Yuna o___o *yay booty-shorts*
We
left early the next morning and with a bit of time found the new
hotel for Shoujo. For some reason, there are no streetsigns in Rye,
NY. Not many people had arrived yet which wasn't terrible. We got
to see the area, which had a pool and a very pretty landscape; we
were very happy.
I
got pulled into another skit. I find it funny that I don't know when
I will actually see a masquerade *hehe* It was an anti-fanboy
service commercial with Ranma, Studmaster and Carrot Glace. It was
lotsa fun and we took third place - not bad for something that wasn't
planned out very well ^_^ My favorite part was telling the audience
at the end that I didn't need any guys to save me! I am Belldandy!
Hear me roar!!! :P
Katie
and I made a sneaky getaway to our room so that we could relax. We
made cocoa and watched The Craft under the blankets. funfun. The
bad points of Shoujo were the badges not being checked. It seems
like a rip-off when you have to spend $45 and, in the end, you didn't
really need to. You could borrow a friend's badge to enter the dealer's
room, which is the only time staff cared to look.
I
also think that attendance was both a good and bad thing. I really
like lots of people at cons. It makes everything exciting. However,
having a small group means that you can make more friends and really
spend time talking. It's like hanging out with old friends on a
couch. It's very comfortable.
It
was really nice to see old friends like Cassie
(OnigiriGirl). We were both winning awards together on stage again
which is really funny. We both think that we are each other's good
luck
charms ^_^ I saw Mr. WonderfulToji, Michela, Scott and Darcy again.
The
Cosplay.com photoshoot was awesome. I finally got to put some names
with faces like Ranma, Studmaster, Silence Glaive, Neoangelwink,
Starwind, Tenjou, DigiKoomi, Ki Kuru Kitty... ok i'll stop ^_^;
All
in all - lots of fun for the end of a really nice summer.
